Electronic Resources Troubleshooting

Grizzly Search Trouble

Grizzly Search is the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) box found on the Libraries & Archives home page.  It is a single search that searches multiple databases with that single search.  Sometimes it misbehaves.

Your Butler ID and Password are not Recognized  There is a problem with your username or password.  Your password may have expired or you accidentally typed the password incorrectly three or more times.  Either of these will block your access to library databases and resources.

  • First, try resetting your password (using Firefox) [Step 2]
  • If you are still unable to login, contact the Help Desk at 316-322-3306 or 316-733-3306 for help in resetting your password

Incorrect Display of Results  After submitting the search, what shows is a message that says, "Loading..." and then a long list of textual items that may or may not eventually lead to actual articles.

  • Check the version of browser you are using, Search It will only work on Internet Explorer version 10 or newer and on the newest versions of the other browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.)
  • Check your extensions.  If you have any privacy extensions activated such as Duck Duck Go, Privacy Badger, LastPass, etc., it may be blocking the discovery service from presenting the results properly.

Catalog Item Not Found  If you click on "Retrieve Catalog Item" and it tells you no results were found.

  • The item has been removed from the collection since the last update.  If it is something you really want, you can order it through Interlibrary Loan.
