Do you have some free time? Come browse! The libraries have a number of collections intended for leisure use, including:
Looking for a specific item? Look in our catalog. If we have it but it's not at your main work site, just let a librarian know. We'll get it to you, usually within 1-2 business days.
Can't find it at any of our library locations? We'll request it for you through interlibrary loan.
The Kansas Library Card is your passport to our state's online materials. To sign up, visit the library in El Dorado or Andover. You will need to bring proof of your Kansas residency, such as your driver's license or a utility bill.
Need help with one of these services? Visit one of our library locations, or get instructions and tutorials for each app from the State of Kansas.
Students, faculty, staff, and community members may easily obtain resources from other libraries. You can check the Kansas Library Catalog for holdings from libraries across Kansas, or simply fill out the form with the information you have. Fill out one form for each request. You may send a request through the Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Please monitor your email for a response.
Interlibrary loans can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to arrive. We participate in the Kansas Library courier service, which sometimes speeds delivery, but if an item is checked out in the home library it may take longer. Please keep this in mind when making your request.
The Interlibrary Loan staff notifies borrowers by phone or e-mail when their requests have been received. To check the status of your request:
Pick up borrowed materials at the circulation desk. Please bring your Butler ID or community member card.
Return borrowed materials to the circulation desk. Some libraries will not make interlibrary loan renewals. When this is the case, we cannot accept requests for renewals. Failure to return material by the due date will suspend future ILL borrowing privileges.
Lost materials, damaged materials, and overdue fines are the responsibility of the borrower.
