Butler CARE: Crises

The CARE team consists of Butler administration, faculty, and staff who respond to potential risks of individual harm or interpersonal violence, such as students who are in psychological distress or experiencing personal crises.

College Health & Counseling

As a Grizzly, you have access to affordable healthcare on both campuses. Office visits to College Health are free for students, and they include services such as:

  • Immunizations
  • Prescription and over-the-counter medicine
  • Health screenings and physical examinations
  • Well-woman clinic for all age groups, including PAP exams, birth control counseling, and free pregnancy tests
  • Free STD testing and treatment
  • Free blood pressure checks

Disability Services

Butler Community College provides accommodations for students who need temporary or permanent assistance through Disability Services. Some, but not all, of the accommodations that Disability Services provide include:

  • Providing letters to faculty stating your required accommodations
  • Extended time for tests*
  • Readers or scribes for tests*
  • Notetakers
  • Alternate text formats
  • Registration assistance
  • Interpreters for the hearing impaired
  • Accessibility information
  • Proofreading and writing support
  • Tutoring
  • Coordination with instructors
  • Placement testing*

*Accommodations for placement testing or tests administered in a classroom require documentation to be sent to Disability Services before the date on which the test is scheduled. Failure to provide documentation of a disability may not be accepted as valid reason to retake a test.

Accommodations: Resources

Tutoring

Tutoring can help you when you need it, where you need it. Available online and on both campuses, Grizzlies have access to student tutors for a number of subjects; you can set up an appointment online or stop in. There are also math lab and an online writing lab (OWL) where students can get additional help.

  • Math Lab: Get free math tutoring from math faculty and students. No appointments are needed for walk-ins, but appointments can be booked for online and in-person tutoring.
  • Online Writing Lab (OWL): Submit your paper to be reviewed by English faculty. Editors will respond to your submission within 48 hours and provide 5-10 comments with suggestions on how to improve your paper.
