Resources: Faculty

A general resources guide for Butler faculty and adjuncts.

Technology: Computers and Service Desk

Computer: Community Patrons

Non-Butler students, staff, and faculty have access to one (1) computer in the library for personal use. The community patron computer is equipped with a scanner and remains logged in for easy access. Grizzlies who are having password trouble can also use the computer to reset their password or unlock their account.

All users in the library follow the same rules of conduct for computer use.

  • First time violators receive a warning and a copy of the rules.
  • Second time violators have their Internet access revoked within the library.
  • Third time violators will be banned from the library.

Computer: Adaptive Technology

Grizzles who need screen-reading or screen magnification software, visual learning tools, and wheelchair accessible-access to a computer have access to our adaptive technology station. The computer is also equipped with a scanner but requires Butler credentials to be used.

Password Assistance: Service Desk

The Service Desk (316-322-3306) is available to Grizzlies who are locked out of their accounts, are unable to log into our databases, or are having technical trouble outside the scope of our library staff, whether on our library computers or their personal devices.

To get help with your password, visit the following page on the Butler website: Password Assistance. There is a tab on the website with the same name above the search bar, in the top-right corner of the screen.

Printing: PaperCut

Grizzlies have access to printing in our library through PaperCut, a cloud-based printing service that supports printing all over campus.

There are two ways you can print using PaperCut: With our computers in the library or your personal devices.

All students receive $5.00 for printing at the beginning of each semester. Students also receive free printing during the last two weeks of the semester.

Printing in the Library: Basics

Grizzlies can print in the library using the "FindMe" printer. This option will allow you to print anywhere on campus.

However, color printing and copying are not available in the library. If you want to print in color or make copies, you will need to visit the Secretarial Center (100 building).

Printing: Costs

  • Black and white, single-sided: $0.10 per page
  • Black and white, double-sided: $0.18 per page
  • Color, single-sided: $0.25 per page
  • Color, double-sided: $0.50 per page

All print jobs are double-sided unless specified. You will need to double-check to see if you are printing in black and white or color before submitting their print job. You may be charged for color copies even if the printer cannot print in color.

You can check their balance at the printer or on the PaperCut website.

  • You can add funds to their PaperCut account online (studentprint.butlercc.edu), at the bookstore, or in Accounts Receivable.

PaperCut: Library Computers

To print from any of our library computers, select "FindMe" as their destination of choice. This will send your document(s) into a cloud queue to be printed from any printer on campus.

Sometimes, the FindMe printer may not show up as an option. There are two explanations for this:

  1. It is hidden as an option in the drop-down list. You will need to click the down-down arrow to find more options under the Destination or printer type.
  2. The FindMe printer is not installed on the computer. Unfortunately, this is a common issue on our library computers. If you run into this error, consult library staff to install the printer.

PaperCut: Personal Devices

To print from a personal device, you will need to navigate to the online PaperCut login (https://studentprint.butlercc.edu/). The login information is the same as the FindMe printer credentials.

From there, you will click on "Web Print", located in the left navigation panel on the website. There are three steps that you will take:

  1. Choose how many copies of a document you will need for their print job.
  2. Upload or drag and drop the document(s) you will print.*
  3. Select "Upload and Complete" to send the document(s) into the FindMe queue. When the status of the print job turns green, you can visit any printer on campus and proceed to print.

* PaperCut on the web only supports PDF and image files (JPEG/JPG, PNG, GIF, etc.). If students have a Word document or Google document they need to print from their personal device, they will need to save it as a PDF file.
